Contrary to the announcement, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni has not yet traveled to the Ukraine peace summit on the Bürgenstock NW. It was initially unclear on Saturday whether she would still be attending.

Meloni's presence is "not yet confirmed", a spokesperson for the Italian government told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani traveled from Italy. He landed at Zurich Airport in the late afternoon.

Meloni's participation had been announced for weeks. Her name was also on the official guest list on Friday. It was unclear why she had not yet appeared. The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) had no information on the matter.

Meloni previously hosted the three-day summit of G7 heads of state and government in southern Italy. The group of seven major industrialized nations includes the USA, Canada, Japan, the UK, France, Italy, Germany and the EU.
