The Böögg is hoisted onto the wooden pile in Heiden AR

In Heiden AR, the final preparations for the Böögg burning began on Saturday. In the morning, the snowman will be hoisted onto the wooden pile. It will be lit at 6 pm.
Around 15 people had already piled up the woodpile on the Streulewiese on Friday. So everything should be ready for the fire to be lit under the Böögg after all. Due to gusts of wind during the Sechseläuten festival in Zurich in April, it had not been possible to light the fire.
This task is performed by the President of the Government of Zurich, Natalie Rickli, and the Mayor of Ausserrhoden, Yves Noël Balmer. The faster the Böögg's head explodes afterwards, the better the summer will be. At least that's the popular saying.
The festival in Heiden begins in the afternoon. The area with market stalls and food stations stretches from Dunantplatz to Kirchplatz. The first bands and groups perform from 2 pm. Up to 5000 spectators are expected.
