75-year-old alpinist falls to his death in the Bernina region

A 75-year-old alpinist from Italy crashed on Thursday afternoon on the Spallagrat in the area of Piz Bernina GR. He could only be recovered dead on Friday.
His companion made an emergency call shortly before 4 p.m., the cantonal police of Graubünden wrote on Friday. Due to the bad weather, the search operation for the accident victim could only be started on Friday morning. The Graubünden public prosecutor's office is now investigating the course of the accident together with the police.
