Marc Ferracci received the most votes from French citizens in Switzerland and Liechtenstein in the first round of the early French parliamentary elections on Sunday. He received 25,590 votes from the sixth constituency, according to figures from the French embassy in Switzerland.
63,122 French citizens from Switzerland and Liechtenstein cast their votes, according to figures published on Monday on the website of the French embassy in Switzerland.
Ferracci was therefore ahead of the left-wing candidate, Halima Delimi, a member of the SP in the city of Geneva. She received 19,446 votes. The other eight candidates were far behind.
Ferracci was previously the representative of French citizens living in Switzerland in the French parliament. He is a member of French President Emmanuel Macron's Renaissance Party. Two years ago, he led the first round of voting with 36% of the vote. He then received almost two-thirds of the votes cast in the second round of voting when he prevailed against a representative of the left-wing alliance Nupes.
Around 160,000 French citizens are registered to vote in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Switzerland is home to the largest French community outside of France.
