Homicide in Aesch BL: 18-year-old to be remanded in custody

Following the homicide on Saturday night in Aesch BL, the Basel-Landschaft public prosecutor's office has requested that the 18-year-old suspect be remanded in custody. The Swiss national is suspected of fatally injuring a 15-year-old with a knife.
According to the investigations so far, the 18-year-old and the victim had already known each other before the crime, the public prosecutor's office announced on Monday.
The public prosecutor's office is assuming a homicide and has opened criminal proceedings accordingly. Pre-trial detention has been requested from the compulsory measures court.
How the homicide came about is the subject of ongoing investigations by the police and public prosecutor's office. In view of the secrecy of the investigation and for reasons of personal privacy, no further details can be given at present, it was said.
Stabbed near the school building
The Swiss teenager was so seriously injured with a stabbing weapon at the Neumatt school in Aesch on Saturday night that he died. Shortly after the crime, the police arrested the suspected perpetrator.
