Alpiq is selling its seven rooftop photovoltaic systems in Switzerland as a package to the company PS Panneaux Solaires SA. The electricity group intends to concentrate on its core business.
The plants are located in the cantons of Fribourg, Solothurn and Vaud and produce an average of 5.6 gigawatt hours of energy per year, Alpiq said in a press release on Wednesday. They will continue to produce electricity "for many years to come".
According to the company, Alpiq will refrain from planning, building and operating photovoltaic plants that are not closely related to its core business. The Group is focusing on the integration of photovoltaic electricity into the energy system.
