SNB appoints Christoph Hirter as new Head of the Media Office

The Swiss National Bank (SNB) has appointed Christoph Hirter as the new Head of the Media Office. He will take up his post on August 1, as the SNB announced in a communiqué on Friday.
Hirter succeeds Claudia Aebersold, who was promoted to Head of Communications at the SNB on June 1. He brings a wealth of experience in central bank communications, the SNB wrote. Hirter has been working as a media spokesperson and communications specialist at the SNB since the beginning of 2019.
He previously worked for several years as economics editor at the "Basler Zeitung", focusing on macroeconomic topics such as monetary policy and banking. Hirter holds a Master's degree in economics from the University of Basel.
