Rail disruption between Basel and Strasbourg lifted

The interruption to the railroad line between Basel SBB and Strasbourg (F) was lifted on Monday evening. Trains were running according to schedule again from 11.27 p.m., as announced by the rail traffic information service on the short message service X.
Due to heavy thunderstorms in the region, rail traffic between Basel and Strasbourg was temporarily suspended. Trains were canceled and there were delays. Travelers between Basel SBB and St. Johann were advised to take the streetcar.
MeteoSwiss warned of severe thunderstorms in the region on its hazard map and issued a "high" hazard level. A severe weather warning stated that a thunderstorm with a danger level of red was moving eastwards over the Basel region after 8.00 pm. Hail, heavy rain and heavy squalls were expected. There was a considerable risk of thunderstorms across the entire northern side of the Alps in the evening.
