The Swiss stock exchange SIX suspended trading on Wednesday morning following a massive technical glitch. The Spanish stock exchange BME (Bolsas y Mercados Espanoles) is also affected by the malfunction. No current prices or indices have been displayed since 9.11 a.m., according to a message from SIX to customers.
Due to the problems with the "data feed" SIX MDDX, trading in Switzerland has been suspended since 10 a.m. until further notice, SIX also writes on its website. Neither trading in Switzerland nor in Spain was affected by the problem, a SIX spokesperson told the news agency AWP. However, the decision to halt trading in Switzerland was made to ensure "equal treatment" of market participants. In Spain, trading is continuing.
According to SIX, the exchange operator's experts are currently trying to rectify the disruption with the "highest priority". It is not yet known when trading will resume, the spokesperson said.
