Woman recovered dead from lake in Sion was 34-year-old Ukrainian woman

The woman found dead in a lake in Valais was a 34-year-old Ukrainian woman. This was the result of the identification of the deceased, as announced by the Valais cantonal police on Thursday.
Emergency services rescued a lifeless woman from one of the two lakes in the Les Îles recreation area in Sion on Tuesday afternoon. Third parties had alerted the police on Monday after finding abandoned personal belongings by the water.
The cantonal police then launched a search operation. Divers from the cantonal police forces of Valais and Fribourg found the woman's body at a depth of 35 meters.
According to initial investigations, the 34-year-old Ukrainian woman was dependent on a crutch. An investigation is to clarify exactly what happened. Les Îles near the Rhone is home to a campsite, restaurants and two lakes.
