Due to a catenary fault, there was a total outage lasting around twenty minutes at Bern station shortly before 4pm on Friday afternoon. The reason for this was a voltage drop, as SBB media spokesman Martin Meier told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request.
It is not yet clear how the voltage drop occurred. According to Meier, the fault was quickly localized. At 4.15 pm, only the Donnerbühl tunnel in Bern-Weyermannshaus was still closed. This affected the S51 in the direction of Bern Brünnen Westside. It was still out of service. The restriction should be resolved by around 8pm, according to Railinfo.
The total interruption caused subsequent delays to rail services. These were in the single-digit minute range shortly before 5 p.m., as a glance at the SBB online timetable showed.
