The Swiss retailer Denner is planning various improvements for its employees in the coming year. The wage bill is to be increased by 1.1 percent.

As the company announced in a press release published on Thursday, minimum wages will be increased by 50 francs. Since 2019, Denner has thus increased lower incomes by a total of CHF 425 per month.

Employees in sales and logistics in particular are set to benefit from the wage increases. These areas account for around 90 percent of the increase in the wage bill.

Denner is also planning to extend maternity leave from 18 to 19 weeks. Employer contributions to the pension fund are also to be increased.

According to Denner, the measures are intended to help strengthen employees' purchasing power and promote a better work-life balance. They will come into force on January 1, 2025.

Migros had already announced around a week ago that it intended to pay its employees higher wages in 2025. The retailer is increasing the wage bill by 1.0 to 1.3 percent. At Coop, wages will rise by "at least" one percent next year. And the Fenaco Cooperative (Landi, Volg) is increasing its total payroll by 1.2 percent.
