Switzerland Imposes Sanctions for Destabilizing Moldova

The Swiss Federal Council has imposed sanctions against five politicians and business people in connection with the destabilisation of Moldova. This includes freezing their funds and banning them from entering or travelling through Switzerland. This follows the measures taken by the European Union in response to the increasing destabilisation of Moldova by internal groups and Russia since the beginning of the military aggression against Ukraine. The sanctions are intended to respond to the increasing undermining of democracy, rule of law and stability in the country, as well as to reaffirm the current government. The corresponding ordinance will come into force on Wednesday at 6 pm.
