Train services between Bern main station and Bern Europaplatz were interrupted at around 08:00 on Saturday morning. According to SBB, there were delays of around a quarter of an hour on long-distance services.

A reporter from the Keystone-SDA news agency said that some trains were only able to pass the affected area at walking pace because of police officers on the tracks. Other trains were canceled completely. When asked by Keystone-SDA, SBB estimated the interruption at around twelve minutes.

The regional trains were turned around in Bern Bümpliz and Bern main station, SBB added. There were practically no more delays after 09:00.

The police operation was triggered by a burglar alarm near Weyermannshaus, as the cantonal police media office announced at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. Due to the proximity to the railroad line, the SBB control center was informed that the train should be driven on sight for safety reasons.

Two people were found near the building in question who had fled across the SBB tracks. The two were stopped and taken to the police station for further investigation.
