15 residents in Freiburg evacuated due to kitchen fire

The residents of an apartment building in Fribourg were temporarily evacuated on Saturday night due to a kitchen fire and heavy smoke. Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The emergency services were alerted shortly before 01.00 a.m., as reported by the Fribourg cantonal police on Saturday. On site, the emergency services noticed heavy smoke in the stairwell. All 15 residents of the building were then evacuated to safety.
The fire department was subsequently able to extinguish the fire quickly. Once the firefighting operation was complete, all residents were able to return to their homes, with the exception of the tenants of the affected apartment.
According to the police, the cause of the fire was due to negligence. A police photo shows burnt and melted kitchen utensils on an electric stove.
