According to army chief, all army payments are secured for 2024

According to army chief Thomas Süssli, the Swiss Armed Forces had outstanding financial obligations of around CHF 13 billion at the end of 2022. All payments have been secured for the current year. Obligations amounting to 800 million francs have been postponed to 2025.
Süssli made this statement to the media in Bern on Thursday, after research by Swiss radio SRF had shown the previous day that there was a billion-euro gap in the army's finances. Süssli spoke of problems with the "timely availability of liquid funds for the army".
Over the next few years, the army will have to negotiate with the manufacturers and suppliers of armaments as to how payments are to be made. Delayed deliveries cannot be ruled out for 2025 and beyond. "Investments in strengthening defense capabilities will not be possible again until 2028."
