According to GLP parliamentary group leader Corina Gredig, the current composition of the Federal Council takes too little account of the will of the voters. "It is legitimate to question the second FDP seat." For this reason, part of her parliamentary group will support the Green Party's candidacy.
Gredig thus repeated the statements made on Tuesday evening. The votes of the eleven-member Green Liberal parliamentary group would be split in the confirmation election of FDP Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis: one part would vote for Cassis and one part for the Greens' candidate, National Councillor Gerhard Andrey.
According to Gredig, the political center must be strengthened in the medium term. Four seats for the SVP and FDP are too many, just as a third left-wing seat would be too many. However, it should not be the case that around a quarter of the electorate is not represented in the Federal Council.
"The basic idea of concordance is not to maintain power, but to include all important forces in the government."
