Anaïs Clerc from Freiburg has been nominated for the 41st Heidelberg Stückemarkt. Six of the 100 texts submitted were selected. The Heidelberger Stückemarkt theater festival is a platform for up-and-coming theater talent and contemporary drama.

Anaïs Clerc is the playwright in residence at Schauspiel Bern for the 2023/202 season. The award-winning text is called "brennendes haus" and is a generational play in which three "people suddenly talk to each other, dead and alive, fictional and real", as Bühnen Bern announced on Friday.

Clerc's texts have already been performed in the Nachtasyl at the Thalia Theater Hamburg and at the Theater Days for Authors at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. She has also assisted at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. She is currently studying scenic writing at the Berlin University of the Arts, with stages at the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel.

In addition to Clerc's text, pieces by Arad Dabiri, Frankfurter Hauptschule, Julie Guigonis, Lars Werner and Leonie Ziem were nominated for the competition in Heidelberg.

The Heidelberg Theater hosts the Stückemarkt, one of the most important platforms for contemporary drama. The prize for authors at the Heidelberg Play Market is endowed with 10,000 euros. This year, the festival will take place from April 26 to May 5. The nominated plays will be read at this event. Prior to this, Clerc's text will be presented with a staged reading in the attic of the Stadttheater in Bern (April 13).
