Two ATM burglars barely commented on their crimes before the District Court of Dielsdorf ZH on Friday. They did not want to remember why they had committed them.

One of the two made a haul of over 1.2 million francs. He had come to Switzerland "to go for a walk", the 50-year-old Kosovar told the court.

Between 2015 and 2022, the accused was involved in burglaries at the Steinmaur ZH post office and in breaking into ATMs in the cantons of Bern, Fribourg and Basel-Landschaft. The perpetrators were extremely brutal in their actions, as the judge noted. The accused called it a "mistake" that this resulted in damage of around CHF 275,000.

The second defendant was only involved in two burglaries. He apologized profusely and claimed that he had not been himself at the time due to his wife's illness.

The court opens the verdicts in the morning.
