The 29 museums taking part in Basel Museum Night had counted over 118,000 admissions by one hour before the end. According to the organizers, the figure is 7.6 percent lower than in the record year of 2023. In total, around 37,000 people visited the event.
In addition to those in the museums, there were around 25,000 admissions to the 12 guest institutions of the Museum Night, as stated by the Basel Museums and the Basel-Stadt Department of Culture on the event website on Saturday. The guest institutions include the Werkraum Wartegg.
"The mixture of knowledge transfer and community activities makes the Museum Night a special highlight in Basel's cultural year every year," said Lukas Engelberger, Vice President of the Government of Basel-Stadt.
Admission to the event was free for people under the age of 26. The next Museum Night is planned for January 17, 2025.
