SRF Meteo has measured the coldest night so far this winter: In La Brévine NE, the thermometer dropped to -25 degrees on Saturday night.
In Samedan GR, the temperature was still -22.8 degrees, as SRF Meteo reported on X, formerly Twitter, on Saturday morning.
However, it got even colder in extreme locations - so-called cold air lakes. Cold air accumulates at such locations because it cannot escape due to the terrain, as the website kaltluftseen.ch writes. According to the website, a temperature of -34.6 degrees was measured at the Sägistalsee BE location in the last 24 hours.
