Broulis is ahead of Mahaim in the Council of States race in Vaud

In the canton of Vaud, the FDP candidate Pascal Broulis is ahead of the Green Party's Raphaël Mahaim in the second round of the Council of States elections after half of the votes have been counted. The former finance minister has 57.9% of the vote, while the Green National Councillor has 40.5%.
According to these preliminary results, more than 13,000 votes separate the two candidates in the second round of voting. Voter turnout is currently at 37.5 percent. Most of the major cities have not yet been counted.
Pierre-Yves Maillard, SP National Councillor and President of the Swiss Federation of Trade Unions (SGB), was elected to the Council of States in the first round of voting on October 22.
