A 40-year-old driver had a wild chase with the Fribourg cantonal police early on Sunday morning. The police were finally able to stop him, as they reported on Monday.

The man had evaded a traffic stop in Estavayer-le-Lac at around 4:15 a.m. - presumably because he had a suspended driver's license. The police pursued the man with flashing blue lights as he continued his journey at high speed.

He covered several dozen kilometers, passing through several villages in the Broye region of Fribourg and Vaud, before returning to Estavayer-le-Lac. There he abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot before the police were able to catch him.

The man was provisionally arrested and his vehicle confiscated. According to the police, he had endangered other road users during his escape.
