Car driver dies in accident in forest near Winistorf SO

A driver had a fatal accident near Winistorf SO on Friday. The 71-year-old left a forest road for unknown reasons. The car drove down an embankment and caught fire, as reported by the Solothurn cantonal police on Saturday.
The man, who had previously been reported missing, died at the scene. There were no indications of third party involvement on Saturday, according to the press release.
A walker discovered a burnt-out car in a wooded area near Winistorf (municipality of Drei Höfe) shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday and informed the police. They found the deceased 71-year-old driver.
The car was recovered by a towing service and transported away. Some of the contaminated soil was excavated during the night, the press release adds.
