“Carl’s Jr.” Burger Chain to Expand into Switzerland

Carl's Jr., a US fast food chain, is set to open its first Swiss branch before the end of the year. The franchise partner is Spycher Burger Gang, a subsidiary of Spycher Group Holding based in Ittigen near Bern. Matthias Spycher, Verwaltungsratspräsident and CEO of Spycher Burger Gang, will lead the Swiss business, with Franziska Kaiser as General Manager. Carl's Jr. was founded in 1956 by Carl Karcher as a small offshoot of his 1945 Carl's Drive-In Barbeque in Anaheim. The parent company CKE Restaurants also owns Hardee's, which is present in 44 US states and 38 countries worldwide, with around 4000 restaurants.
