The Center Party wants to re-elect all current members of the Federal Council on Wednesday. And it considers the two SP candidates for Alain Berset's successor to be both electable, as Center Party parliamentary group leader Philipp Matthias Bregy said.
Switzerland is a country of balance, stability and concordance, Bregy told the United Federal Assembly. All relevant forces should be involved in the government and elections should have consequences.
According to Bregy, neither four Federal Council seats for the right nor three for the left are justified by the will of the people expressed in the national elections in the fall through the number of seats in both chambers. However, the center does not want to vote out any incumbent members of the Federal Council.
The Center Group expects federal councillors to take responsibility for all people in the country in their office, said Bregy. The parliamentary group also expects members of the government to handle their power with care and "not simply follow a simple power logic".
Bregy and Center Party President Gerhard Pfister stated on Tuesday that in the elections on October 22, the Center Party voters had given the party the mandate to take on more responsibility in the medium term. But only in the medium term.
