The European Skills Championships Euroskills will take place in the canton of Geneva at the end of September 2029. The Confederation will contribute up to CHF 15 million to the organization of the vocational competition. This corresponds to 60 percent of the total costs of an estimated CHF 25 million.
This financial contribution is part of the Dispatch on Education, Research and Innovation 2025-2028 (ERI), as announced by the Federal Council on Monday during question time in the National Council. The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) is supporting the Swissskills Foundation for Geneva's candidacy.
SERI has supported the activities of the Swissskills Foundation since 2002, in particular for the organization and implementation of the national Swissskills championships and Switzerland's participation in Worldskills and Euroskills. The amount invested amounts to around CHF 17 million every two years.
Switzerland won 15 medals at this year's Worldskills in Lyon, including seven gold, as many silver and one bronze medal. Euroskills will take place in Geneva from September 26 to 30.
