Grisons member of parliament Franziska Preisig (SP) has criticized the "dishonest" voting behaviour of some members of parliament. 70 members who voted for Zurich Councillor of States Daniel Jositsch (SP) in the second round of voting did not stick to the official election slogan. The unsuccessful Jon Pult (SP/GR) had frightened parliament.

"I am convinced that Pult would have needed nothing to become a Federal Councillor. With his straightforwardness and convincing appearance, he may have caused a little fear. Pult represents a different generation and exemplifies this to a certain extent," Preisig said in an interview with Keystone-SDA on Wednesday.

The woman from Graubünden is disappointed, but also proud. "I think we have a good Federal Councillor in Beat Jans (BS) because an official candidate was elected."

The Social Democratic Party (SP) has taken note of the presumed attitude of the bourgeois camp in the election of the new Federal Council. National Councillor Valérie Piller-Carrard (SP/FR) told RTS that the many votes for Jositsch were an act of mistrust and a complete lack of respect for the candidates put forward by the party.

The co-president of the SP parliamentary group, Samuel Bendahan (VD), also said in an interview with RTS that the question must now be clarified as to whether or not the conservative camp still wants social democrats in the government.
