Delayed Final Result for Basel National Council Elections

The announcement of the final results for the National Council elections in the canton of Basel-Stadt has been delayed. According to the State Chancellery, the control of the counted ballots is still not completed and the announcement of the final results is now expected to be made at around 8.30 pm. The final result for the Council of States elections has already been announced, albeit with a delay of three and a half hours. Eva Herzog (SP) was confirmed in office with a very clear result of 42,677 votes. For the first time, the canton of Basel-Stadt has only four instead of five National Council seats. According to gfs.bern projections commissioned by SRG, the SP could lose one of its two seats, while the LDP, GLP and Green/Basta could keep their seats.
