“Enormous Forces Released in Derailment”

On Thursday, a freight train derailed in the Gotthard Base Tunnel, releasing massive forces according to SBB officials. The train was travelling at around 100 km/h and the incident was something that was never expected. This has caused disruption for travellers between the north and south of Switzerland, freight companies and the population of Ticino who will have to endure longer journey times. The tunnel cannot be used until the safety installations have been correctly re-installed, which is expected to take days. A crucial connection between the tunnel tubes was damaged in the accident, and without its repair, no traffic can pass through the tunnel.nnnnnnnn
