The European Union (EU) Commission would be "delighted" to take part in the Ukraine peace conference on the Bürgenstock. However, it has not yet received an official invitation for this event, as an EU Commission spokeswoman told the Keystone-SDA news agency in Brussels on Thursday.
It was not yet known who would be attending from the EU side. However, the Commission welcomes the Swiss government's announcement to hold a high-level conference on peace in Ukraine.
The spokesperson also stated that both the EU and its member states would work intensively for a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the principles and goals of the Ukrainian peace formula.
On Wednesday, the Federal Council announced that it would organize a peace conference on Ukraine on 15 and 16 June at the Bürgenstock in Central Switzerland. Invitations are to be sent to over 100 countries in the coming days.
