Due to a technical malfunction at the railway station, the train service on the Spiez - Visp route was temporarily suspended for about two hours on Saturday evening. This caused delays, diversions and cancellations. The malfunction was a switch failure in the Lötschberg Base Tunnel, according to the BLS media office. Passengers should still expect delays after the end of the malfunction. Affected lines included IC6 Basel SBB - Bern - Brig, IC8 Brig - Zurich HB - Romanshorn and EC trains. Passengers and freight trains were diverted via the old train route, the Lötschberg Scheiteltunnel, using a shuttle service. Travellers are advised to allow more time for their journey.
