Defense Minister Viola Amherd has joined Instagram. On Thursday, the Federal Councillor offered an insight into her daily life in Bern, on business trips or at appearances on her department's channel for Defense, Civil Protection and Sport. Amherd wants to reach people where they spend most of their time, on their smartphones, according to the department. On her Instagram account, Amherd creates more space for dialogue with the population. She informs about political decisions and answers questions in channel-specific video and text formats. The Instagram presence of the VBS chief corresponds to the strategy of the Federal Council for social media, which is intended to take into account the changing habits and expectations of information.
