Federal prosecutor files charges for diplomatic murder in 1995

Almost 30 years after the crime, the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland has filed charges in connection with the murder of an Egyptian diplomat. The man was shot dead in Geneva in 1995. A 54-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman are being targeted.
The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland had previously opened criminal proceedings, as it announced on Friday. However, these had to be suspended in 2009 as the perpetrators could not be identified. It reopened the proceedings in 2018 because new information had emerged in the meantime.
It has now filed an indictment with the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona against a 54-year-old Ivorian-Italian dual citizen and a 49-year-old Swiss-Italian dual citizen.
