Film producer Stacey Sher receives Raimondo Rezzonico Award

Film producer Stacey Sher is considered a central figure in American independent film. The Locarno Film Festival is now honoring her with the Raimondo Rezzonico Award.
US-American Stacey Sher has worked with film greats such as Quentin Tarantino and Steven Soderbergh, as well as Oliver Stone, Cate Blanchett, Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson. Together with production partners Danny DeVito and Michael Shamberg, she is responsible for the films "Pulp Fiction" (1994), "Schnappt Shorty" (1995) and "Gattaca" (1997).
She has also produced for television. And together with Soderbergh, she was responsible for the production of the 93rd Academy Awards. The 77th Locarno Film Festival is honoring her with the Raimondo Rezzonico Award as a producer who can claim "that her films not only drastically changed the landscape of American independent film, but also set the tone for an entire decade". The festival made the announcement on Tuesday.
Sher will receive the award on August 8 on the Piazza Grande. In addition, "Erin Brockovich" (2000) by Steven Soderbergh and "Django Unchained" (2012) by Quentin Tarantino, both films she produced, will be screened that evening. The following day, she will take part in a panel discussion.
The 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival will take place from August 7 to 17. The Raimondo Rezzonico Award has been presented annually since 2002 by the Ticino municipality of Minusio to an important producer of independent films. It was named after the former president of the festival, Raimondo Rezzonico (in office from 1981 to 1999).
