On Thursday, a large fire broke out in a silo in Satigny, Switzerland. Approximately six tonnes of sunflower seeds were burned. Due to the risk of explosion, 60 professional and volunteer firefighters were deployed with ten fire engines. The fire was fought with two hand and two cannon lances. The Swiss Federal Railways also mobilized a fire brigade to prevent the fire from spreading to other silos. By the afternoon, the fire was under control. A large number of emergency personnel were expected to remain on site throughout the night. The fire started in a grain dryer in the late morning and spread to the silo.
