Heavy rainfall in Switzerland has caused flooding, road closures and water contamination in some regions. The Alpine passes Furka, Susten, Grimsel, Gotthard, Simplon and Nufenen have been closed due to the strong precipitation of the last few days. The Rhine valley in St. Gallen was partially flooded, but the peak of the flood was reached in the afternoon and no damage was reported. The canton of Thurgau has also extended its flood warning to the Thur river. In the canton of Ticino, the road to Bleniotal was closed due to the risk of flooding, and drinking water was contaminated in parts of Bellinzona. In Graubünden, the Splügenpass and the Umbrailpass were still closed due to landslides, and a part of the Averstal was still cut off. In the Engadin, the fire brigade and the road construction office were busy with the high water in the Inn and various streams. In Sent in the Lower Engadin, a campsite was flooded. In Brienz/Brinzauls, the landslides above the village increased, but there was no immediate danger. According to the private weather service Meteonews, there is a risk of flooding, mudslides and landslides in the south and north of Switzerland, with more than 200 liters of rain per square meter expected in the south and locally over 150 liters in the north.nnnnnnnnnnnn
