Further Action Needed for Digitalization in the Health Sector

Digitalisation of the healthcare system in Switzerland is still in need of urgent action. The national program "DigiSanté" aims to catch up with the digitalisation of the healthcare system by 2032. The central actors in the healthcare system agree that digitalisation needs to move forward quickly. Data collected needs to be able to be used for multiple purposes and a broad-based, shared strategy is needed. The Federal Office of Public Health and the Federal Statistical Office are working on improvement proposals and the Federal Council is expected to approve the program by the end of 2023. The program aims to increase efficiency, transparency and patient safety, while also ensuring data protection, informational self-determination and cyber security.nnnnnnnnnn
