Geneva publisher Michel-Edouard Slatkine dies

The founder of Editions Slatkine, Michel-Edouard Slatkine, is dead. He died at the age of 92, as confirmed by his son Ivan Slatkine in a report by the online portal of the daily newspaper "Le Temps".

Michel-Edouard Slatkine was born in Geneva in 1933. He founded Editions Slatkine Reprint in 1964. Ten years later, he acquired Editions Honoré Champion in Paris. In 1996, he founded the publishing house for general literature Verticales, also in Paris, and a company for the distribution of French publishers in Switzerland.

In 1997, the Genevan was awarded the Prix Meylan. The prize honors special achievements in the field of musicology.

More recently, the publisher Editions Slatkine has made a name for itself with the publication of the complete works of Charles Ferdinand Ramuz, which have been enriched with analyses by the Centre de recherches des lettres romandes (CRLR). Around 30 works were published between 2006 and 2014.

Slatkine Reprints is currently managed by his sons Ivan and Michel-Igor Slatkine and is active in all areas of the book industry, from publishing to printing and distribution. Editions Slatkine publishes around 30 new publications a year, mainly of a regional nature.
