Girl dies in traffic accident in the canton of Fribourg

An eleven-year-old girl was hit and seriously injured by a car in Villaz-St-Pierre FR on Wednesday evening. A helicopter flew the child to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The accident occurred at around 6 p.m. when a 63-year-old female driver was driving in the direction of Orsonnens, as the Fribourg cantonal police reported in a press release. On the Route de Fuyens, near the football pitch, the girl, who was crossing the road on foot, was hit by the car.
The police have started an investigation into the circumstances of the accident. The police are looking for witnesses.
