According to meteorologists, there will be another chance to see the northern lights in the Swiss sky on Sunday night. The chances of seeing the northern lights are once again quite good, the weather service Meteonews reported on Saturday.
On a clear night in many places, it is worth taking a look at the northern sky horizon. The better it is visible and the darker the place you are in, the greater the chances of catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights, it is said. At the beginning of the week, the chances are lower again.
Northern lights are rare in the Alpine region. They are mainly known from polar regions. The natural phenomenon is caused by solar storms that hit the Earth's magnetic field.
On Saturday night, the lights were widely visible from the lowlands of Switzerland. This was due to six prominent solar flares in the region, which is directed towards the earth.
