The Greens are filing a complaint against the women's pension age vote following the federal government's incorrect financial forecast for the AHV. This has been decided by the party's executive committee, as Secretary General Rahel Estermann told the Keystone-SDA news agency.

Estermann confirmed corresponding information from the Tamedia newspapers. The party's final decision was made on Wednesday, Estermann said. The party has until Friday to submit a voting complaint after becoming aware of the miscalculation.

The complaint is to be filed by private individuals in the cantons of Geneva and Zurich, said Estermann. The cantons are the first instance in the matter. A decision can then be appealed to the Federal Supreme Court.

The Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO) has overestimated AHV expenditure for 2033 by around CHF 4 billion, as was revealed on Tuesday. The Swiss Federation of Trade Unions (SGB), the Greens and the SP Women then questioned the vote on raising the retirement age for women from 64 to 65 in 2022 due to the incorrectly calculated AHV financial prospects. On Tuesday, some of them called for the vote to be repeated.

The Greens had explained that the bill at the time was ultimately only approved by a wafer-thin majority of voters (50.5%) and on the basis of false figures provided by the Federal Council. "Women in Switzerland were cheated out of a year's pension," the Greens continued.

Legal experts recently assessed the chances of an appeal differently.
