The players in the healthcare sector want to save around CHF 300 million in healthcare costs per year from 2026. They set themselves this target at a round table discussion on cost-cutting measures.
The 300 million francs correspond to around one percent of the premium money, said Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider to the media on Monday afternoon after the meeting in Bern. The round table would meet twice a year in future. It is extremely important to have all stakeholders at the table and to take joint responsibility.
The round table does not want a revolution, said Baume-Schneider. The stakeholders wanted to work together to achieve improvements in the system and eliminate duplication, for example. At the same time, the quality of care should be maintained.
If no agreement could be reached, the Minister of Health assured that she would take action. She would either make decisions in such cases or submit proposals to the Federal Council.
