There is a high avalanche danger in southern Upper Valais. This is the second-highest warning level, which is only triggered on a few days in winter, according to the avalanche warning service of the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF in Davos.
The second-highest danger level applies to the upper Visp valleys, the Simplon region and the Binntal valley. In this very critical situation, spontaneous and often very large avalanches are likely. Avalanches could easily be triggered on many steep slopes. Remote triggering is also typical.
In the other areas of the Alps, there is a considerable risk of avalanches.
