Hundreds of people gathered in Zurich-Oerlikon on Saturday afternoon to demonstrate against a liberal abortion law in the 13th annual "March for Life". The event was organised under the slogan "Be their voice!" to raise awareness for the unborn. The police were present in large numbers due to the threat of counter-demonstrations from left-wing groups. The event included a rally and a "confession march" through the streets of Oerlikon. The organisers also set up their own security team. Flyers with slogans such as "Together let's spoil the fundis' march" and "Our feminism against their right-wing culture war" were circulated in the lead up to the event. Banners with messages such as "Defend the right to abortion" were hung on buildings around the market square where the event started.
