Man freed with hydraulic pliers after accident in Ticino

A man was seriously injured in a traffic accident near Cadenazzo TI on Tuesday morning. According to information from the Ticino cantonal police, his vehicle came to rest on its side and the 38-year-old had to be freed using hydraulic pliers.
According to the press release, the accident occurred shortly after 8.30 a.m. on the Via Monte Ceneri. The Swedish driver, who lives in the Lugano region, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the wall at the side of the road before his vehicle came to a standstill on its side.
Officers from the cantonal police and the municipal police of Bellinzona, as well as the fire departments of Cadenazzo and Bellinzona, freed the man from his vehicle using hydraulic pliers and a spreader, according to the press release.
After initial treatment at the scene, the casualty was taken to hospital. According to an initial medical assessment, he suffered serious injuries.
