Man killed in accident at Zollikofer recycling plant

A man became trapped in a waste compactor at a recycling plant in Zollikofen BE on Friday and was fatally injured. Investigations into the circumstances of the accident were still ongoing on Saturday.
The worker was repairing a jammed waste compactor shortly before midday, the Bern cantonal police reported on Saturday. For reasons still to be clarified, he became trapped. The rescue workers who were immediately called out were only able to determine that the man had died. Formal identification of the casualty was still pending.
