Three female candidates and one male candidate would like to take over the chairmanship of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives. Migros announced on Friday that Séghira Egli, Dominique Imhof, Edith Spillmann and the current President Marianne Meyer had applied for election by the closing date of May 21.

The election was actually held on March 23. At that time, however, Meyer was not confirmed in office as the previous Chairwoman of the Migros Group's highest body and the election process was then restarted. According to the press release, a majority of delegates decided to hold an extraordinary delegates' meeting on June 15 to decide on the Chair for the two-year term of office (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2026).

According to the communiqué, three quarters of the total 111 delegates must be present for a valid election. The person who receives an absolute majority of votes from those present is elected, whereby several rounds of voting are possible.

The Assembly of Delegates, which normally takes place twice a year, is the supreme body of Migros. 100 of the 111 delegates are elected by the regional cooperatives in accordance with the Articles of Association. The chairmanship is held by an independent person.

Many years of experience

Marianne Meyer has been President of the Assembly of Delegates since 2020. She was a member of the committee for a total of eight years between 2004 and 2016. Professionally, she is head of the customized snacks department at food manufacturer Haco.

Séphira Egli is the Deputy Managing Director of the Association for the Information System on Public Procurement in Switzerland (Simap.ch). She was a member of the FMC administration from 2020 to 2023 as a representative of the employees.

Edith Spillmann, Head of HR Business Partner at Arnold AG and a member of the Zurich Cooperative Council since 2016, is also standing for election. She has been a delegate of the FMC since 2020 and is also a member of the Migros Support Fund.

Retired teacher and prefect Dominique Imhof is the only man running for the office. He was a member of the Assembly of Delegates from 2008 to 2012 and has been a member of the Migros Valais Board of Directors since 2012.
