Migros sells Melectronics to Mediamarkt

Migros is taking the next step on the road to streamlining. It is selling 20 of its 37 Melectronics stores to Mediamarkt. The remaining 17 will be closed, as announced on Tuesday by the Swiss Merchants Association as social partner.
According to KV Schweiz, all employees and apprentices from the acquired locations will transfer to Mediamarkt. The electronics retailer is also taking on a further 18 apprentices from other stores.
The stores that were not taken over are to close by November 2024 at the latest. Around 100 store employees and 50 employees of the associated Fachmarkt AG will lose their jobs, according to KV Switzerland.
