A new trilingual teaching aid is designed to familiarize high school and vocational school students with Swiss security policy. The hybrid medium consists of a 90-page brochure and an online page. It is designed to enable students to engage with various threats and security policy responses.
The teaching aid "How safe are we? Switzerland's security policy" is divided into three modules, as the Lucerne University of Teacher Education and the Defense Group of the Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) announced on Friday.
According to the information provided, the basic module deals with current challenges. The historical module sheds light on various people and their involvement in security-related events. In this way, security policy can be experienced in the course of time, the two institutions wrote. And the political module requires an examination of controversial issues relating to Swiss security policy.
The teaching materials are published by the Lucerne University of Teacher Education and the Swiss Armed Forces Training Command in collaboration with the Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana, Hep-Verlag and Éditions Loisirs et Pédagogie. The teaching aid was financed by foundation funds. It is therefore available free of charge.
